SOS #195: No Foolin'

It's Tuesday, and time for a new challenge. Since tomorrow is April 1st, also known as April Fool's Day, we thought it would be fun to do another challenge on faux techniques. Some ideas that come to mind are faux stitching, faux leather, faux silk, faux embossing.  There is a whole list of faux technique ideas here on Splitcoast. If you don't already have an idea, why not try something new?

Here's how the ladies have interpreted this week's challenge:

Leslie
I used the Faux Mother Of Pearl technique
I made a Faux Leather gift card/money wallet

Lauren
I used wet and dry embossing for this textural faux leather technique
Jessi
I used the Faux Tile technique
I used the "Faux Weathered Wood Frame" Technique

Donna
I made "faux leather" using masking tape, distress ink and clear embossing powder (and did some faux stitching)
I used the faux metal technique for the car image.

Deena
I did faux stitching and faux cracked glass

Now it's YOUR turn! Put on your thinking cap and decide which faux technique to try. Why not stretch your wings and try something new, especially if it makes you use something neglected and unloved from your stash? :) Then make something and come back here to link up below so we can stop by and see what you've made.

The link-up will be open until Monday, April 6th, at 11:55 pm EDT. Please limit your total number of entries to 13, including ours.

SOS #193 - I Made This

It's Tuesday, and time for a new challenge. This week's title is I Made This, and we'd like you to make your own background. You MAY NOT just stamp a background stamp! You could make a collage, or use paint, tape, stamp, stencil, or even alter patterned paper with doodles. There are so many options!

Here's how the team have interpreted the challenge:

Donna
I used chalkboard paint, texture paste, a stencil and distress paints to create my background
I stamped with Distress inks on watercolour paper, painted with water overtop, and then re-stamped the same stamp.

the marbled background was made with nail polish on watercolor paper
I used Distress Inks and a stencil for my background.

Leslie
I used embossing paste with a stencil, then selectively inked over it with another stencil.

The background I made is Drunken Chalks

Deena
I dry embossed and then inked my back ground with tim holtz inks.....
Lauren
i made a collage of torn paper and doilies, then added flowers fussy-cut from patterned paper.

Now it's YOUR turn! Go into your stash and pull out some stuff to make your own background. Then come back and link us up below so we can stop by to see what you've made.

The link-up will be open until Monday, March 23rd, at 11:55 pm EDT. Please limit your total number of challenges to 13, including ours.

SOS #191: Not-So-Heavy Metal

It's Tuesday, and time for a new challenge. This week's theme is No-So-Heavy Metal, and we'd like you to use your oldest hardware. Yes, this is a repeat from a year or two ago, but come on, did you really put a dent in your stash with the few eyelets or brads you used last time? Didn't think so.

Here's how the gals have interpreted the challenge:

Leslie
I used eyelets
Jessi
I used eyelets too!
Lauren
I also used eyelets and added bonus points by placing them in the center of my card and using the old school bang-with-a-hammer setting tool! :)
I used a boat load of brads from my stash!

Donna
I used Tim Holtz metal embellishments - word band and butterfly
Barbara
I used some Spare Parts clips and brads to close the card.

Deena
brad and flower set

Now it's YOUR turn! Go into your stash and dig out some old hardware, use it to make something, then come back to link us up below so we can stop by and see what you've made.
